Rock’n’Roll is back in music-hacking-biz
It doesn’t happen too often, that I meet people, whose creativity and sense for “doing the right thing the right way” really impress me. To be honest it has not happened for quite a while until late April this year. This might be because I should go among people more often or just because there’s not too many guys, that you would call “genius” for a reason.
Lee Martin is one of those guys. I’ve met him while working as a freelancer for SoundCloud during the last six months. Lee worked as an experimental developer and we happened to get to know each other in SoundCloud’s San Francisco office. We started talking, span ideas - whereas he was shooting and I tried to look smart - and shared some great thoughts over a good amount of cheap Pilsener. Those days he was publishing some SoundCloud-hacks he did for artists as diverse as Tenacious D and Beyonce. I was thrilled by his work and the amazing but easy-to-use “nerdiness” which is always at the bottom of it. I was sad about him deciding to leave SoundCloud some weeks ago, as well as I am happy today about him being back to business with a bang: http://leemart.in/open
He sure doesn’t need my help on spreading the word, but I nonetheless feel the urge to share his site, which includes some great examples of the awesome work he did in the last couple of years. So, if anyone of you needs inspiring, entertaining and working music-hacks or, to put in Lee’s words, wants to “kick some serious ass for you and your clients”, reach out for Lee Martin. He’s a genius.
